Asalamualaykum
I have heard many times that calling the quran 'holy' is an innovation. So apparently there is no evidence to suggest that the quran was described in this way by Allah or his Prophet (salalllahu alayhi wassalam). Also it is supposedly imitating the kuffar(Christians). If this is true then shouldn't the admin change the forum name? |

som information regarding Etymologists have traced "holy" back to an Old Norse word for good health and wholeness, "heilagr", through German "heil" (meaning "health, happiness and good luck") to Old English "hal" (related to hallow). According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, the pre-Christian meaning was probably "that which must be preserved whole or intact, that cannot be transgressed or violated." Very interesting, when used in the context of "the Holy Land".
