Default Is slaughtering a condition for a kitabi?

Asalaamu Alaykum,

Oneof the arguments of those who allow meat in the west is that there is no proof that slaughtering the islamic way is a condition for ahll kitab...yet I do not know of any scholar who has said this, is this opinion valid?

Wa Alaykom Assalam,

There is no general rule to allow or disallow this type of meat in the west. Each city has its own conditions. Please search the Multaqa and other Islamic Fatwa websites as this topic is fully covered and there is nothing new to add to it.

akhi al kareem,
I don't know what country you are talking about, but in the u.s "each city" doesn't have it's own conditions, I'm talking about major slaughter houses throughout the u.s.

But my question is not if the meat in the west is halal or not, my question is if it is a condition on ahlul kitab to slaughter like muslims, if it is an opinon that it is not a condition, then much of the meat here from major slaughter houses would be halal according to that opinion.

As mentioned by Shaykh Ayman most of these questions are answered on Islam QA website.

“It is forbidden for the Jew to eat the flesh of animals if they have not been slaughtered by one who is qualified to slaughter, in the lawful manner, after reciting the blessing or prayer for slaughter."

Do not worry about it. Non taken. (smile)

I know that you find your question is simple but the answer is complicated. This is why I said each city has its own situation. In any case, if you know for sure that the animal was slaughtered in an unlawful way, it becomes haram to consume.

The majority of Jews in the United States and Soviet Union (more than 80% of them), who form the vast majority of the world’s Jews, do not apply any of the food laws; and no more than 4% of them follow all of their food laws. (there is long list of food laws in Judaism)

Yes, Jews slaughter, but I'm speaking about Christians. The Argument is there is nothing in their religion that says they have to slaughter, yet Allah says it's allowed to eat their meat, is my question clear?

Jazakum Allahu khayrun akhi, but it didnt or maybe I just didnt understand..

The reason Im asking is bc a person here takes that opinion that its not a condition for the christians to slaughter so as long as it is a christian it doesnt matter whay way they kill the animal...anyways I found that majority of scholars say it is a condition and some of the malikiyah such as ibn al arabi say it is not bc it is not in their religion yet Allah allowed the meat.

Thats all I needed baarak Allahu feekum!
